Volunteer Spotlight: Alicia Eustes – Delivering More Than Food

When Alicia Eustes joined the Mountain Resource Center as a volunteer in March 2025, she brought with her a lifelong commitment to helping others—and quickly became an essential part of our volunteer team. Whether behind the wheel of the MRC van or helping unload boxes, Alicia plays a key role in keeping our Food Share Market and Mobile Food Share running smoothly.

As one of MRC’s dedicated volunteer drivers, Alicia helps transport food from the Action Center’s hub, where she picks up deliveries from Food Bank of the Rockies. These deliveries stock both our on-site market and the Mobile Food Share, which she also helps drive to Evergreen and Bailey, bringing nutritious food directly to community members who may face transportation or access challenges.

“It’s rewarding to know you’re helping get food to people who really need it,” Alicia says. “Even putting a smile on one person’s face makes me feel like I’ve done something good.”

Alicia’s spirit of service runs deep. Her mother volunteered at MRC’s preschool last year, inspiring Alicia to get involved herself. Growing up, Alicia’s involvement in the Methodist church helped shape her belief in serving others with compassion, empathy, and respect.

Alicia’s reliability and willingness to step in whenever she can makes a lasting impact. Each trip to pick up food, deliver boxes, or bring the Mobile Food Share to rural communities strengthens MRC’s ability to reach more neighbors in need.

“Alicia truly embodies what it means to be part of this community,” says MRC Volunteer Coordinator Kim Erickson. “She’s dependable, kind, and always ready to help. We couldn’t do what we do without volunteers like her.”

For Alicia, volunteering is about more than the task at hand—it’s about connection. “Sometimes it’s just about showing people that someone cares,” she says.

We’re deeply grateful for Alicia’s generosity, her time behind the wheel, and her dedication to helping ensure our mountain neighbors have access to healthy food and a friendly smile. Volunteers like Alicia make the heart of MRC beat stronger every day.
