Donor Advised Funds

Consider donating to Mountain Resource Center from your donor-advised fund. A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an account set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. Once you establish your DAF, you can recommend donations from the fund to charities of your choice.

How do I set up a donor-advised fund?

  1. To establish your donor-advised fund, you make an irrevocable contribution of personal assets, which could include cash, stock, real estate, and more, to a sponsoring organization, community foundation, or financial institution. You will receive a tax receipt and tax benefits when funds are deposited into your DAF.
  2. The charitable assets in the DAF may be invested, and any investment growth is tax-free for you.
  3. You can recommend single or recurring donations to charitable organizations, so long as they are tax-exempt 501(c)3 and classified as public charities – like our organization, Mountain Resource Center!

Donating Stock

Donating stock can be an impactful way to support Mountain Resource Center. When you make a gift of stock, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon sale, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting MRC. Check with your broker or tax advisor to determine if a stock donation makes sense to you.

Donating a Car

If you have a car, truck, van, RV, or motorcycle that you would like to get rid of, consider donating it to Mountain Resource Center through Cars Helping Charities, a nonprofit organization that will sell your vehicle and send the proceeds to us. Cars Helping Charities will handle all aspects of the donation for you free of charge, including pick up and transportation of the vehicle.
