Parents as Teachers™
Parents as Teachers™ provides early childhood family education and support throughout pregnancy and until a child enters kindergarten. We provide parents with support and education to promote their child’s healthy development and to lay a foundation for success in school and life. In the first few years, children learn more and at a faster pace than at any other time in life. By understanding what to expect during each stage of their child’s development, parents can easily use moments in everyday life to enhance their child's growth.

Personal Visits
Each month, a parent educator will share age-appropriate child development and parenting information, help you learn to observe your child, and address your parenting concerns. The visit includes:
- An engaging play activity for you and your child, enriching parent/child interaction and enhancing your child’s development.
- A story to read with your child. The PAT library has been developed by literacy experts who have selected book topics such as sharing, recognizing colors, and early math and science concepts.
- Discussion and handouts based on the particular month of your child’s age, with information on fun activities to nurture growth.
Parent Group Meetings
Join other parents to share information about parenting issues and child development. Parents learn from and support each other, as well as enjoy activities with other families. Topics include nutrition, literacy, music, art and more.
Screenings
Mountain Resource Center’s Parents as Teachers uses the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, a tool that helps you to assess your child’s overall development. We also provide health, hearing and vision screening.
