Mountain
Resource Center works to improve the health status of high-risk
and underserved populations through an on-site community
clinic, educational programs, and nurse home visits. We
provide health services and education to at-risk, impoverished,
or low-income consumers.
Identified
by community members as priority needs, services include
- child
adult immunizations and physical exams
- women’s
health care, including pelvic exams, pregnancy tests,
post partum care, and mammogram vouchers for women over
40
- breastfeeding,
antepartum, post partum, foster child, and child growth
home visits.
Mountain
Resource Center also supplies nutritional and child health
services through the Women,
Infants, and Children (W.I.C.) program and assistance
for Medicaid
and CHP+
applications. Nurses present culturally relevant educational
information regarding prenatal care, breastfeeding, family
planning, childbirth, general health improvement, and obesity.
On-going support groups provide knowledge and encouragement
to consumers diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and their
families. With the goal of eliminating health care disparities
and supporting the health of all family members, services
are provided for a nominal fee or sliding fee scale and
made accessible through home visits and local points of
entry. Many vital services are offered free of charge.
